Hello! I'm Berit Manser, a recent graduate from Western Washington University with a Bachelors of Science in Applied Mathematics and with a keen focus on Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
I grew up in Evergreen, Colorado where I spent lots of my time mountaineering, working/volunteering in trail maintenance and habitat restoration, and brewing coffee at the local coffee shop.
In high school, I fell in love with mathematics and how it unveiled the hidden patterns of the world and could be used to solve practically any problem. But math wasn't my only passion. Through working in environmental conservation at Teens Inc and my love for the outdoors, I felt so inspired about making a positive impact on Earth and working towards a brighter, more sustainable future.
I found myself at a crossroads, unsure of how to combine my passions. Until I found the GIS program at Western, and dove headfirst into the world of maps and data visualization. I realized I'm a bit of a map nerd and couldn't be happier about it. There's something incredibly fulfilling about transforming raw data into visually stunning maps that tell stories and drive decisions.
